Sue brought along her fabulous quilt top made with this block to our May Sew Day (see pics below). It was stunning in Kaffe Fassett prints.
May Sew Day
Saturday saw another great turn out for our WMQG May Sit n Sew day. We welcomed Sue’s daughter Kate attending for the first time and were spoiled with great weather, a fabulous space, delicious morning tea and of course, quilts!
A number of beautiful quilts were brought along for show and tell, including some always impressive huge quilt tops. Sue’s Interlocking Seasons top received many oohs and ahhs, while Pam’s use of browns to warm and black and white quilt was certainly a highlight.
New babies joining the family served as inspriation for Carole who shared her jungle and farm yard quilts for twin boys, and Bev’s two super cute little girl quilts. Playing with new machines and new block techniques also produced some great samples.
Congratulations were in order for Anorina who showed us her Dresden Table Runner which had been included in Handmade magazine (including her first contributor photo!) and Jessica shared her completed rainbow snapshots top for her first quilt. Rachael shared a top secret gift finish, hopefully we can share some pictures of that next month!
Special thanks go to Carole and Jill for providing us with some great treats for morning tea. A chocolate cake to die for, blue corn chips, baked ricotta and dips provided the fuel we needed for the morning.
It was great to see everyone again, the next Sit n Sew day is on 16th June, it’s the same weekend as the Quilt and Craft show in Sydney, hope you can make it!
Save the date for the Craft & Quilt Fair in Darling Harbour, Sydney.
It runs from Wednesday June 13 until Sunday June 17 & is open from 9am to 5pm.
It’s a must for all die-hard quilters & fabric hoarders!
Some helpful tips to ensure perfect patchwork!
I love this tutorial for Ladder Stitch. It creates an almost invisible finish to your binding without the little “pinch” effect that other stitches make.

Happy Mothers Day! May Sew Day just one week away…
Happy Mothers Day! I hope all you lovely Mothers were thoroughly spoiled today!
Aside from other wonderful gifts, my children both slept at the same time for 2 whole hours this afternoon which meant I got to do some sewing. It’s the first time since the April Sew Day & now I’m feeling the pressure of the May Sew Day to complete my colour wheel quilt… It’s only taken me 3 years so far.
Our next Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild meeting is next Saturday May 19th. We meet at Bulli Community Centre from 9am-1pm. Show & Tell will start at 9.30am, make sure you don’t miss it!
If you are interested in joining the Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild, please contact Rachael on 0407028196. RSVP is essential to ensure enough table space for everyone.

Thursday Nights Cancelled
Just a quick post to let you know that we will no longer be holding our monthly Thursday evening meetings. It seems we are all too busy during the week to make it!
See you at the next Saturday Sew Day! Happy Sewing :)
We settled into our new home at Bulli Community Centre this month & were joined by three new lovely ladies. Welcome Jill, Pam & Carol! There were many oohs & aahs as we examined their work for the first time during Show & Tell. What fabulous quilts they’ve been making!
Lots of blocks for our first charity quilt were brought along & laid out. We just need a few more! Thank you so much to everyone who made one. I enjoyed seeing everyone’s personality come through in their individual block. Made me wonder if quilting is the window to your soul?
