May Sew Day was held on Saturday 18th May. There were lots of quilt tops and finished quilts shared - with a great range of techniques and styles displayed. It was also a big day for the WMQG with the Sew & Tell of our Madrona Road Challenge Quilts (to be shared in another post!).

Thank you to everyone who attended our Vintage Fabric Sale Fundraiser. The day was a complete success!
Our volunteers were put to the test with huge piles of fabric presented by each lady in the crowd of buyers. There wasn’t much fabric left at the end of the day!
The funds raised have already paid for a huge roll of batting that we will use in our next Charity Quilt Challenge -Vintage Made Modern.
Our Vintage Fabric Garage Sale is this Saturday 4th May. Please circulate the details to everyone that you know who sews!
Prices start at $2 per metre for most of the fabrics on sale.
The proceeds from this Garage Sale will go towards buying supplies like batting for Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild’s Charity Quilts Project.
In the event of rain, the sale will move inside Bulli Community Centre.
APRIL SEW DAY
The April Sew Day was our smallest ever, with only 12 in attendance. This made for a very intimate sewing circle, which was quite lovely!
A special mention goes out to Christine who has almost finished her first ever quilt top. I’m seriously impressed with her Madrona Road quilt & I’m so glad that I pressured her into joining the Challenge.
The Madrona Road Challenge quilts are due for completion by the May Sew Day (18/5/13), so put your foot down ladies as there’s not much time left!

Madrona Road Challenge Quilts
The first of the Madrona Road Challenge Quilts made their entrance at the March Sew Day. Our deadline for these quilts isn’t until May, so these ladies are very keen getting them finished so early. Well done girls!
Don’t forget our April Sew Day is next Saturday April 20th.

MARCH SEW DAY
March saw a very diverse range of quilts on show during Sew & Tell.
The photo quilt that Christine’s sister made for her wedding was inspirational, it was made using raw edge appliqué. Popular online quilting crazes were well represented in Kerry’s Scrappy Trip Around The World quilt, Sue’s Granny Squares block & Jess H.’s foundation pieced Block Of The Month (BOM) blocks.
We also welcomed newcomer Irene. Irene is a long time sewer, 1st time quilter. She has chosen to make a single bed quilt for her granddaughter using a pattern by our very own Anorina of Samelia’s Mum, found here.
